We’re a bit away from that happening. The Bar Associations have a vested interest in promoting the old brick and mortar law schools, because their alumni fund the ABA. The ABA hasn’t shown much interest in accrediting online law schools, and unless they do, it’s not going to change.

Also, the legal profession is an incredibly formal and old school profession, in terms of the way it’s run. I would guess that the legal establishment is in no hurry to change.

That degree would be virtually useless anyway, unless you wanted to hang your own shingle. No one is going to hire an online JD at a law firm, you’re going to have to start your own practice. Most of the firms hire based on alumni connections and the prestige of the school, and Concord has neither.

SERIOUSLY–do NOT do it. Online may be the way of the world now, but it is still not the way of the courts. Half of law school was learning how to think on your feet while hundreds of people are staring at you. It loses the entire effect online. Plus, law school wasn’t like undergrad at all. If you are really interested in becoming a lawyer, save yourself some time and money and go to a traditional law school. They have a lot of good schools in Texas…

Probably a long time. There isn’t a friendly sentiment towards online law schools in the profession, so don’t count on many states accepting those degrees any time soon.

I agree, don’t do it. Go to the best school you possibly can. UT has a great program, and I am considering going there. It can be very hard to get a good job coming from a lower ranked ABA-accredited school, let alone an online school.
