The best law schools in the US are Harvard, Yale, Stanford, University of Chicago, University of Michigan, University of Texas, Georgetown, ect. If you would like a full list just search for the US News law school rankings.

Note also that you have to earn a bachelors degree (in ANY major) from an undergraduate university to be eligible to apply to law school. You do not need to earn your bachelors degree from the same school you plan to go to law school, nor will it help you with admissions to that law school. For example, if you were accepted to Stanford for undergrad, after graduation you would have to apply to Stanford's law school against all other applicants from across the country. Law schools give no preference to their own undergraduates, in fact it hinders their goals of diversity to take students from their own undergrad school. I would recommend getting your bachelors from a different school then you plan on going to law school.

Earning your bachelors degree takes 4 years and law school is 3 years. Then you have to pass the bar exam in the state you wish to practice.

What a lawyer makes anywhere will greatly vary. There are some lawyers in California who make $30,000 a year and a few who make millions. It all depends on work experience and where you go to law school. Right now the legal job market is awful so wages for lawyers is down right now. BTW do not choose law for the money, if that is your only motivating factor you will be miserable.

Best of luck!!!

I will be beginning my legal career this coming fall as a first year law school student. To be quite honest, I am intimidated about what lies ahead. I have read both of Professor Delaney's books, which came highly recommended from a friend and now feel more confident that the exams are now somewhat demystified by his willingness to share his extensive knowledge of the dreaded exam process.
